Can still hear his raspy voice saying "Not if I see you first."
Great show, and great post, JD.

Love ya,
LoriLorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05254439593465401470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2362647006692902502.post-54351791236086900702011-03-20T20:33:23.116-05:002011-03-20T20:33:23.116-05:00JD,

I have never seen Simon Birch, but I have seen LOTR.

This gives us new insight and a new direction to look towards as we write. If it is a different curve than any other writers than we can be unique. :)

HUGS
Trishwackycajunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03613860179431862914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2362647006692902502.post-57565984517020020142011-03-19T12:16:16.959-05:002011-03-19T12:16:16.959-05:00JD,

I haven't seen Simon Birch before, but I will have to check that one out.Kaseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08021206584119138150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2362647006692902502.post-21458619398663727662011-03-14T14:20:26.112-05:002011-03-14T14:20:26.112-05:00Good post, JD. There are a couple of unlikely heroes I enjoy, such as Justin de Quincy, from Sharon Kay Penman's medieval mysteries. Justin is a bastard searching for his father when he seemingly falls into solving a murder and subsequently becoming an agent for Queen Eleanor. Then of course there's Brother Cadfael, a medieveal monk who's an unlikely sleuth, yet manages to solve all sorts of crimes in the Ellis Peters' series.

Thanks for making us think :)Barb Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08996074777659677868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2362647006692902502.post-33839501621122885472011-03-14T09:38:06.977-05:002011-03-14T09:38:06.977-05:00I love the movie Simon Birch! He's a complete underdog who bumbles around trying to figure out how to do things right.

You are so right, JD - a true hero is proven by his character.
