The Power to Change

I'm a big believer in people taking control of their personal power. As of late, I've heard a lot of people asking how they got to this place in their life, or lamenting their fears that they can't do anything about their situation.

Any goal you have, any desire, begins with one step. I wanted to be a published author, but it's been a few years in the making. Nothing happens over night. Anything worth pursuing takes perseverance, determination and effort. It takes patience and a strong belief in yourself. If I hadn't believed in my dream, I never would have met these wonderful Angels to blog with :)

Do you believe in yourself?

Tough question to answer, isn't it?

There are times in our lives when we question what we're doing, wonder if we're doing the right thing or perhaps we want to throw in the towel. It's all normal when we're making the conscious decision to make changes in our lives.

Even at the most rough times in my life, I have faith that things will work out the way they're supposed to. Is it difficult? Sure is! I'm human after all. Some times I want something and I want it right now! LOL Or maybe I'm going through a difficult time and it feels like it'll never end. We all experience these things, so know you are not alone.

Although it's tough at times, I trust that where I am in the moment is where I'm supposed to be. All the decisions I've made up to this point have brought me here. The beauty of it, is that I am free to choose what step I take next.

So no matter where you are in your life, or where you want to go, remember these things -

Have  FAITH
BELIEVE in yourself
TRUST in your ability to make the right decisions for yourself, and most importantly
NEVER GIVE UP

Musical Inspiration

As an author I get asked quite often whether or not I write with complete silence or with background music. Sometimes it depends if I'm trying to get into the "mood" for a scene. Sometimes I need silence to just let the words flow.

However, music is a big part of my life. I love listening to instrumental music just to soothe my soul. Anything that has romantic undertones is great. Sometimes I love a good raunchy rock tune, and I always like a song that inspires me in some way or speaks to something I'm going through. I've provided links to some of my favorite songs at the moment so please listen, or just comment if you are familiar with the song.

One current fave is Katy Perry's Part of Me
"This is the part of me that you're never ever going to take away from me"
Throw your sticks and stones, throw your bombs and blows,
but you're not going to break my soul"
POWERFUL! Love it!

Another fave, Kelly Clarkson's Stronger
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger,
stand a little taller, doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone,
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter,
footsteps even lighter,
doesn't mean I'm over because you're gone"
Words every woman should remind themselves after a break up!

Nickelback's Lullaby is a great song for those who feel they are alone - a good reminder that we're not!

"I know the feeling of finding yourself stuck out on the ledge,
and there ain't no healing, from cutting yourself with the jagged edge,
I'm telling you that, it's never that bad,
take it from someone who's been where you're at,
laid out on the floor, and you're not sure
you can take this anymore
Just give it one more try..."

Let's kick it up a notch, shall we?
I refuse to be a Belieber, but I grudgingly admit that there is something I like about Justin Bieber's new song Boyfriend (sorry everyone, LOL)
"I'd like to be everything you want, Hey girl - let me talk to you.
If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go,
Keep you on my arm, girl, you'd never be alone"

So, perhaps this choice speaks to my hopeless romantic side (hopeless being the operative word) who does want to find that special someone who won't let me go ;)

Now that I've made you gag, how about I propose a break up song? This one of the best I've heard. In fact, I bought their entire album because I love their unique sound.

Gotye's Somebody I Used to Know
"But you didn't have to cut me off,
make out like it never happened and that we were nothing,
I don't even need your love but you treat me like a stranger
and that feels so rough"
Great duet!

Let's really kick it up a notch with some sexy!

Chuck Wick's Hold That Thought - I know this isn't a new release but I still love how sexy this video is and the romantic words in the song.
"Close your eyes, picture this,
lying in bed in the candlelight,
we start to kiss
pulling your body in close to mine,
pictures us - that moment before we make love"
*sigh* *swoon* Oh yeah, baby - I'll hold that thought ;)

And the last song I'll torture you with is Jennifer Lopez featuring Pit Bull Dance Again
What a sexy dance tune and even though I'm not a huge Pit Bull fan, but when he whispers "Make love to me", I'm about ready to get naked and jump on the bed!

All right - I've given you a few of my faves. What are you listening to right now? Share your playlist with me and the other Angels.

My Most Inspiring Men

This month, I'll make it short and sweet. (Kind of like me...hehehe) I'm re-posting the real life men who inspire me, and giving everyone a teaser of what's to come in the next couple of months. I'm so privileged to have met these guys, and share their life philosophies with the world.

Theo Theodoridis - "Just remember while we keep our hearts open humanity, kindness, tenderness, compassion, and unselfishness thrive. They make us civilized, they exceed over any law or social rule, and make our world a better place. Express these to everyone."

Stephen Black - “To truly be happy and living as we should, I believe we need to hold onto what our soul tells us to hold onto. It is the food or fuel, if you will, for our happiness.”

Jei Douglas - "In life, relationships, journeys, and careers, sometimes we need to take a chance. The outcome may not be as we expect, but it will surely be memorable."

Nick King is the February sweetheart. "I think of other people first because I think its the right thing to do. The world doesn't revolve around just me. Life is what you make of it. If you strive to do your best you can accomplish anything you put your mind to."

Matt Gulakow - a cutie I'm privileged to call family. I've known this guy since he was 8 or so... He'll be playing College ball for a university in Montreal. You'll hear his story in March. He believes that if you don't take a chance on something, you'll never know.

I've met Mr. April - Charlie Junior Settee - he's a University of Winnipeg graduate and Powwow dancer. Have yet to interview him but if he's anything like these guys...well, women in the world are in good hands when there are real life heroes around. Nobody says they're perfect, but then aren't the heroes we write about flawed, too? That's what makes a good person - someone who doesn't pretend to be perfect but strives for it. So far, all of these guys, with the exception of Theo, have agreed to be in my calendar for charity. Aren't they awesome? :) You can visit them all on my blog at www.kelliejwin.com

The Doctor is IN!!!!

What is it that women find so sexy about male doctors? Is it the way they look in those baggy scrubs? Is it the white lab coat? Or is it their ability to accessorize: stethoscopes looped casually around their necks, pen light at the ready to check your eye’s dilation reaction, tongue depressor in hand, or the way they look coming out of surgery, with the fashionably snazzy head coverings, masks, and those little slipper things over their shoes? Maybe it’s all of that power at their fingertips as they feel for lumps, swollen glands, stiff joints, etc... I hear the God syndrome runs pretty high in doctor’s circles…no matter how much we all know that nurses are just as important in the medical profession and get far too little credit from some doctors. I have to admit that I’ve pretty well lucked out when it comes to doctors. Although my GP is a woman here in Kinder, my three specialists in Lake Charles are all men…and extremely good looking men, at that. Since a couple of my novels center around medical professionals I’ve decided to dedicate this week’s blog to my very own Men of Medicine.

First up is Dr. William C. Moss, a surgeon in Lake Charles, La. Well over six feet tall, I've seen this guy go from capable, young, handsome "Billy Boy" (His dad is also a doctor) with dark hair and dark brown eyes, to the older, distinguished looking doctor with salt and peppered hair. Still extremely attractive, but more important, a wonderful doctor. Caring, efficient, listens to what I have to say and never rushes through an examination. He's ordered breast biopsies, removed cysts, and performed my lumpectomy almost two years ago.
Judge for yourselves...aint he purty?

Next up is Dr. John Noble, an orthopedic surgeon in Lake Charles who has perfomed carpal tunnel surgery on my hand as well as arthroscopic surgery on my knee. He's a little under six feet tall, has blond hair and blue eyes, the best bedside manner and very skilled as a surgeon. Doesn't hurt that he's verra nice to look at, ladies. Aren't I lucky?

How about other real life doctor’s? Here’s a couple I watch on television quite often:
Dr. Oz – made famous by Oprah – Also a nice looking man.

My newest favorite doctor to watch on t.v. is Dr. Travis Stork from The Doctors. Incidentally, the hunky six feet, four inch hunky doctor also appeared as The Bachelor on season eight. I just found out about that...did anyone else know that?
What a dish!

I ask you…HOW SEXY IS THAT?

Let’s just throw in some Grey’s Anatomy hunkies, for good measure.
Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd), Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Eric Dane (Mark Sloan), and my personal favorite, Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt)

Bigger is Better!

Hello Angels! I want to discuss size today. When it comes to men, does size really matter? Is bigger really all that better? Well ladies, speaking from experience, I've had one not so big, and one at the other end of the spectrum, and in my opinion, bigger is definitely better.

You see, as woman who's somewhat on the tall side at 5'7", I prefer tall men. What's that? Of course I'm talking about a man's height. What did you think I was talking about? Shame . . . shame . . . get your minds out of the gutter and pay attention, girls.

You see, my first hubby was a small man with an even smaller sense of fidelity. So, I dropped his unfaithful ass, and found myself a real man. A big ole man, a little under 6'3", with a big heart, that I could look up to in more ways than one. On December 3rd, Michael and I will celebrate 16 years of a marriage I haven't regretted for one minute. I think my hubby's large size and big heart are the reason I'm drawn to big men.

I love music - especially country music - and I often use the music as inspiration for my writing. I have several male country artists that I find unbelievably attractive because of their size as well as their voices. Who can resist the deep, sultry bass of Josh Turner, the resonating tones of Trace Adkins, and the sexiness of Blake Shelton and Keith Anderson.

So feast your eyes on my delectable collection of massive, male talent...every one of them well over 6' tall, and chock a block full of sexiness and talent.
