To me, the attraction isn’t the hat, the billowing shirts (although tight breeches are a plus), the scars, the drinking or the dirtiness of living on a ship. Instead, it is the attitude that a pirate has; the typical devil may care attitude. The attitude in which he takes what he wants and leaves behind what he doesn’t. It is the cheeky gins, the wicked sense of humor, the rough and rugged exterior (such as that sun bronzed skin and the windblown hair). Not to mention, the agility that a pirate must possess in order to climb the rigging, balance on a rocking ship, brandish a sword against the enemy or, well you know, rescue the damsel in distress. Let’s face it. I am a klutz and would go overboard, so he should have good reflexes.
I haven't seen Pirates 4 yet, but I hope to soon. However, I am in the middle of another great pirate-ish novel, Surrender of a Siren by Tessa Dare, and the hero, Mr. Benedict Grayson, is a privateer attempting to go respectable. Love it!
So in honor of a new Pirates of the Caribbean move out this past weekend and fabulous pirate romance novels everywhere, what are some of your favorite pirates?
I too love a good pirate! My fave book with a pirate was Julie Anne Long's I KISSED AN EARL. *swoon*
ReplyDeleteI should say that I'm totally in love with Jack Sparrow and Will Turner. Both can scrub my deck anyway ;) I love the pics you posted!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kellie! I forgot about I KISSED AN EARL, I love that book too.
ReplyDeleteKasey,
ReplyDeleteLoved the Malory series! I still have every one. A recent pirate favorite, although not new is The Pirate Lord by Sabrina Jeffries. As Kellie said, SWOON. I haven't read I KISSED AN EARL, will have to check it out.
Great post, Kasey!
Thanks, Elke! The Pirate Lord is another great pirate book! I read that one a few years back. Might be time for a re-read soon. :)
ReplyDeleteGENTLE ROGUE was my favorite! I read it over and over. James Mallory was such a sexy "gentleman" pirate.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Kasey!
Wow! It took me awhile to pick my tongue off the keyboard;) I love Capt. Jack Sparrow and Will Turner. Don't think I could choose, so I'd be a greedy wench and take both. HA
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great pics. *sigh*
Thanks, Cherie! He was my favorite too!
ReplyDeleteJen, I love both as well, but if I HAD to choose just one I think I would take Will Turner. It is a hard decision though!
Love me some pirates!! AARRRRR!!! Oh and Johnny Depp is one hottie for sure. Another great post, Kasey! Thanks, sweetie.
ReplyDeleteHUGS,

Thanks, JD!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...Jack Sparrow...Will Turner...Jack....Will...Johnny or Orlando...Hmmm...me being a Libra, and all, I'd have to give them each an equal shot at making me swoon. Or maybe I'm just a greedy wench, like Jennifer. Aaarrgghh, matey!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Kasey.
