Revenge Of The Nerds

With the recent storms and being without electricity, I couldn't help but think of how our society has come to rely heavily on those nifty gadgets of ours and the tech geeks or nerds who handle those devices so well.  You know exactly who I'm talking about.  There's always the guy or gal who knows all about the latest electronics and how to use them effectively.

Unfortunately, I'm not so computer or tech savvy.  I'm not the slowest in that regard but definitely not the 'know how' gal over it either.  Yet, it comforts me when a competent tech guy can lend me his knowledge when I'm the damsel in distress while shopping at Best Buy or Circuit City.
I couldn't help but think of some of my favorite tech geeks or nerds in literature or TV.  Since I recently read, JR Ward's 'Lover Unleashed', Vishous instantly comes to mind.  Although his story is 'Lover Unbound', he is featured quite a bit throughout Ward's recent release.  He's the type of vampire who can kick those pesky villians' assess while hacking into the Pentagon.  Yeah, he's that good.  And did I mention he's hot as hell... *sigh*

Willow from 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' gathered invaluable information for the slayer while assisting her with protecting the citizens of Sunnydale.  And let's not forget the extra boost she gave to her friends when she played around with the dark magic.  Yep, that witch could download faster than you can say Bill Gates.

Val Kilmer played one hot nerd in the 1980's movie 'Real Genuis'.  He might not have been the computer brains in the movie, but his intelligence and wit made me scream with delight.  I believe that's when I first fell in love with him.

There are several tech geeks or nerds we've fallen in love with over the years. Whether it's for their product knowledge, corky personalities, or sexy thumb drives.  Well, who's your geek love?

  1. Actually, my favorite nerd was the one who got me through algebra in high school. Such a nice guy-and he 'grew up' to be a kinda-hottie. Unfortunately, I didn't see him again until our some-teen class reunion when he was comfortably wed. I didn't recognize him, he'd changed so much. Alas, regrets too late on my 'No' to his invite to our Senior Prom. But back then....sorry. Couldn't do it. I think there's a moral in there somewhere, but I don't want to dig for it :)

I guess my favorite big screen nerd is Indiana Jones. I could sit in a classroom and watch--er-listen to him lecture all day.

  2. I was a fan of Val Kilmer in Real Genius along with Anthony Micheal Hall, who also turned out to be a hottie.

I'm with you Barb. I could watch--listen to Indiana Jones all day. :-)

    What a fun post, Kellie!

  3. Loved "Real Genius," no doubt because Val Kilmer was one sexy guy with definite smartitude. Of course, I've always gone for the brainiacs. Something about intelligence gets me going. I went to the prom with the class smarty and married one of the smartest, wittiest men I've ever met.

Indy is a great choice, Barb and Elke.

Although I don't love the series as much as some, I'm invested in Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld, and the character Torin is the nerdy/geeky hottie of the series, and I have to admit, I'm interested in his story.

    Great post!

  4. I agree with the Indiana Jones one... *sigh* Fave nerd...hmmm...let's see one of my calendar guys, Stephen is a techie and a few of the other men I know would be considered hot and nerd smart as well! As for movies - nothing is coming to me at the moment. There was one character in an early Janet Evanovitch romance that was an inventor hottie! I loved that book. Can't remember it's name at the moment. LOL

  5. Ditto on the Indiana me some Harrison Ford. Love the Big Bang Theory on t.v. Soooo funny.

In h.s. there was this one guy, classic nerd, button up shirts, belted dress pants, pocket protector, slicked back hair, glasses. He treated me a little too nice for my taste during my senior year. He chose me to co-edit the junior section of the yearbook with him. I was not happy. He was our photographer, and everytime I was in a photo he'd take, it 'didn't turn out' and we'd have to take it several times more. I often wonder if he had a secret stash of the 'rejects' set up like a shrine to me or something.

Either that, or he was trying to piss me off because he knew I wanted to co-edit with my best friend, Gina. lol!

    Great post, J.D.

  6. Ah, yes, I love Dr. Jones. I am a huge fan of the Big Bang Theory guys. I love that show!

    Smart guys are sexy.
