Some of my favorite Christmas movies include "Home Alone". I'm talking about the original one here. Although the others are fine, the first one leaves me in stitches every time. I die with hysterics while watching little Kevin and all his mishaps.
Christmas for me can not be complete without watching 'White Christmas' with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. I absolutely love this movie. I always find myself crying every time when all the military men salute their retired General. The music and dance puts me in the perfect frame of mind of wanting to waltz with my very special someone as well.
Two other ones that pop into my mind are 'Miracle on 34th Street' and 'A Christmas Story'. Again, I love the original black and white with 'Miracle on 34th Street'. There's something about a good black and white movie that sets the right mood of days gone by. 'A Christmas Story' brings out the little girl in me. I know it sounds wrong but a part of me loves the fact that little Ralphie gets the worst gifts from his aunt. That bit of information seems to bring a smile to my face because I realize that I'm not the only one whose gotten a crappy gift from a certain 'special' relative.
Well, those are just a few of my favorite Christmas movies. Which ones are your favorites and why? Does it bring back special memories or is there one that has become a Christmas tradition every year with your family? Please leave a comment regarding your favorite Christmas movie and get an opportunity to win my giveaway of a Christmas DVD movie pack and $10 gift card.
Merry Christmas everyone!
I love all the movies you put up there--as well as Christmas Vacation. Love that movie!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays! :)
Great movie choices! I love the Santa Clause movies! I watch them every year with my kids as well as Rudolph!
ReplyDeleteHow the Grinch Stole Christmas. (hope animated movies count!) I adored the book as a child, Dr. Seuss taught me to read. Not only do I watch it, but I annoy the bejeezus out of everyone in earshot by saying every word and singing along:D
ReplyDeleteThose are some of my favorites too, another one is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation ;)

It's a Wonderful Life...hands down favorite, with The Christmas Story a close second. Every time I hear someone say they've won a 'major award' I have to snicker! But for a newer children's movie, I absolutely love The Polar Express. I went with my daughters and their kids to see that at the theater and I was in awe of the sheer magic of that film.
ReplyDeleteOh, Polar Express is good too!
ReplyDeleteELF!
ReplyDeleteWill Ferrell's immature man-child tactics put to their very best use. That movie endears me every time. ^_^ And hey, I can even let my kids see it!

I love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. My family watches that one every year. I also love Home Alone. Others that I enjoy, that haven't been mentioned yet, are Love Actually and The Santa Clause.
ReplyDeleteChristmas Vacation is one that I look forward to seeing every year, mainly for Cousin Eddie and the Christmas Story has many classic moments.
ReplyDeleteBut for one that hasn't been mentioned yet, I'll say 'The Miracle on 34th Street,' because it captures the magic of Christmas.
Not a traditional one by any means and fairly recent, "Holiday." I've chanced across it several times this year and enjoyed it immensely.
ReplyDeleteOh, JD, I love the old Christmas movies--'White Christmas,' 'Holiday Inn' (not just a Christmas movie, but it introduced the song White Christmas), the original 'Miracle on 34th Street' (in the '40s,) and a cute one old one I saw on TV last year, 'Christmas in Conneticut.' I'm not much on the really recent ones although my kids like 'Home Alone' and the National Lampoon one. And we always have to watch 'A Christmas Story.' Oh, and I forgot, 'A Christmas Carol.' I'm kind of burned out on 'It's a Wonderful Life.'
ReplyDeleteGreat post and walk down movie memory lane.
Merry Christmas to everyone.
